i live in a very cosmopolitan city and in my rugby team we have 5 Indian boys, about 5 black/african boys, and 7 white boys/
we were all about the same size when we started playing and we have since been put on a strict gyming Program for 3 years. we all taking protein shakes and creatine etc, and do about the same amount of physical exercise.
i’ve noticed several things.
1. the african kids were stronger to begin with and had a higher muscle content
2. the white boys gained muscle the fastest and grew much bigger than the indian and african boys
3. the african kids remained the strongest (bench press and squat etc)
so basically the indian boys (like 4/5) didn’t put much mass on and remained thin, and benched the least.
is it genetics or diet or a combination which has caused this??
i’ve also seen that the same 5 indian males have much better grades in school.
i’m not stereotyping but i found this interesting pattern and i want to know why??

Although i cant answer your question i found it totally fascinating!
Sounds to me as if genetics plays a part here for sure!
My daughters boyfriend is Thai and plays rugby. He gave up for 6 months
My son is a Competition judo player at a much higher level and also gave up for a few months.
They both continued to eat as before.
My son put on weight and lost his six pack, whereas my daughters boyfriend stayed the same!
Cultural diet may also play a part as chillies for example (apparently so don’t quote me!!) speed up metabolism.
Im happy to say they are both back in training, however my sons six pack has not yet returned!
