If you stretch prior to working out you will overstretch your muscles, thus causing injury. The best way to prevent this is to stretch at the very end of your workout right away to keep your muscles from cooling down. Otherwise muscle cramping could be caused from lack of potassium in the diet or from not drinking enough water/salt to retain the water. Besides that the only reason why you should be having muscles injuries is waiting too long after your workout to stretch. Coach always said the body should be glistening with sweat before you stretch.
