I’m leaving for basic training in a few weeks and I am concerned about loosing weight. I have been a routine weightlifter for the last two years and have put on some good muscle since then. I am now around 187 lbs and am 5′9. I like the weight that I am at currently and it just worries me since I won’t be able to lift weights during training that I’ll loose weight. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

push ups and dips dips work on the back arms you can still keep cut and fit when you get settled in your own buck and room buy you some weights that will help just enough to keep cut up

Basic Training will build up your muscular endurance so yes you probably will lose a little muscle and therefore weight. But you have to realize that it doesn’t matter if you can lift an ammo box or something heavy like that once, it matters that you can do it over and over as your life could depend on it. I doubt you’ll become a string bean though because the whole point of basic besides the mental part is to make you stronger.
