I am going to try Yoga and I was wondering if it’s exercise? My mom said yes but isn’t it barley exercise? Where in my body other than my brain will it be helping? I want to start it because when I did it once with a friend I was so relaxed and it helped my sore back! (I’m 13)

Depends on the kind of yoga you’re doing.
Some people who don’t think it’s exercise must have never tried Rocket Dog pose (Down Dog with your legs and arms bent) and they must have never tried holding down dog for a really long time. Some of the poses by themselves aren’t too difficult but when held for a long time or used in a sequence with other moves it can burn as much as lifting weights (because, well, you are lifting yourself).
Try the more advanced courses and you won’t have to ask anyone whether or not it’s exercise. It’s can work great.

Yes yoga is exercise. By holding the poses, you are contracting the muscles and utilizing potential energy.

Yoga is a physical and mental exercise. There are different types for different needs.
You can do yoga for injuries or conditions that need special attention, like your sore back
Yoga for those who want to get in touch with their spiritual side, or
fast and sweaty like a great workout.
So make sure you choose a form of yoga that you want.

Hatha style yoga is an exercise that stretches and tones your muscles (to purify the body). It is simple enough that anyone can do it, but depending on how much effort you put in, it can still challenge even the most physically fit. It is not, however, a cardio workout that works your heart.
Modern styles of yoga exist (they are usually called yoga-whatever other exercise) that might incorporate cardio.
Other forms of yoga are mostly meditative and spiritual, not really exercise.

Yoga - It’s great that you want to do it! Yoga is an ancient form of exercise, that is more designed to help you relax. The reason yoga is exercise is because it makes the body fit. After your first session you feel good, it is like it detoxes you! After a while you feel great! Your body is fit, you are healthy, and best of all… your body, soul, and spirit are happy and relaxed!
