I’m in need of an exercise routine and simple diet plan, please help!?

November 11th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Hi, I’m a 22 year old male, 5 ft 7” and weigh in at just below 500lbs. I just now began to take action in controlling my weight and changing my life. I’m a very motivated person and can get the job done. Can someone please give me a simple exercise routine they feel will work for me as well as a diet plan? I have no health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart any conditions, etcetera. My goal is to lose 250 in one year. I lost 100 lbs in 90 days when I was 15, so I know this is not an unreasonable goal. Please help. And don’t offer your opinion if it’s negative. Thank you and god bless.

Walking is the most effective exercise routine ever! And it’s not how much you eat, it’s what you eat.

That’s awesome you want to start taking charge in your life!! =) First I’d recommend, since you have a good bit of weight to lose, that you talk with your doctor before starting any workout plan. Also, if possible maybe go to a personal trainer. He/she will be able to give you great one on one time, be able to help you develop a good diet especially for you & help get you in the best shape of your life! But as that’s not always possible for everyone I’d say your best bet is to start keeping a food journal. You can find a lot of info on websites like http://www.calorieking.com or http://www.livestrong.com. For you I’d recommend about 1500 calories, 140g carbs & 40g fat. Keep track of EVERYTHING that you eat, from the smallest bite of candy to the biggest slice of pizza. Try to cut out fatty & sugary foods, & replace them with whole grains, fruits & veggies. Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day as opposed to 3 large meals. Eat every couple of hours so your body doesn’t go into "starvation" mode.
As for exercise I’d make sure to start SLOW. Start with just walking as far/long as you can. Work yourself up to jogging, then running. Make sure to fit in weight training, i.e.–squats, lunges, pushups, situps, etc. The Internet really is a good source for work out routines. Just google it! =]
Hopefully this helps a little! & Good luck!! =]
