Whatever the makers claim, a power plate ISN'T much good for your abs.
The exercise that works abs on there, is to sit on it with your feet gripping (or 'hooked' if this is easier for you) on the handles, so that your body and legs form a 'V' shape.
You can just sit there, while the machine wobbles you, or you can do a limited 'situp-ish' movement. You shouldn't do it for more than 30 seconds at a time, though, and remember to keep breathing throughout.
This exercise is only effective in the same way as situps and crunches. Like those exercises, it concentrates the effort on a small, superficial layer of muscle at the front of your body.
Large, varying waist movements in all directions are much better for your abs. These actions will build a strong 'core' made up of broad, flat sheets of muscle, which works much better than the glamorous, but useless 'sixpack' abdomen.
