About 6 wks ago we just moved and our 5 year old german shepherd fell down our slippery hardwood steps trying to outrun me to get outside. When she fell she yelped and began limping. The next day she wouldnt play or eat anything. I thought this was natural considering she probably hurt herself bad and needed some rest. So to prevent her from falling down the steps again we blocked it off with a laundry basket.
A week later she heard me going outside leaped over the basket and tumbled down the steps. she yelped so much i didnt know what to do so i took her to the vet. he said she just her herself so he gave me some pain med. for her.
About two weeks later she fell hard once more outside on the slippery leave running to get our neighbors dog and would not get up (she just lie there crying and staring up at me) in a panic i gave her another pain tablet. A couple days later my other dog tried to play with her but it ended up in a terrible fight. She had bitten her tongue and it bled terribly for two hours constantly. She looked so sick that i decided to take her to the vet once more. He just said he didnt know what was wrong and that her bleeding of her tongue would not make her listless - although her did not see how much she bled - (not much of a help)
I have been slowly trying to give her some food but she even refuses steak i bought for her. Im trying everything I can to get her to eat so she gains some of her weight back. Although it is funny because every night she loves to eat milk bones but before she never did so ive been letting her eat 5 a night plus a bowl of food -(that i half force feed her)
Any thoughts or suggestions to how to make her feel better would be SO apreciated! I hate seeing my dog and pain. Should I try giving her a stronger pain medication? Keep giving her the milk bones and food (eggs, steak, - protein)? THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!
please someone help??
