      Light weights with more reps and cardio.

      Depends on your metabolism.

      I have a cousin that’s like a rail and she doesn’t work out at all

      Some women can get there just by exercise or diet.

      My wife is trying to work her way down but is having to exercise and diet (atkins)

      Without knowing your existing body style, how much you want to lose (if any) and how much toning is needed it’s hard to get more specific.

      It depends really on where you are at right now. If you already have some size, lifting weights could make you bigger at first. But if you don’t have excess, and want to just tone then it would be OK. But to let you know many times an increase in physical activities such as exercise can cause you to want to eat more. And then it a never ending cycle if you don’t have much self control. But here is some advice to help you along the way;

      Running is not going to give you lean muscle mass in your biceps, triceps, deltoids……..

      Try running with 2 pound free weights. Do bicep curls, triceps kick backs and military presses…..

      You want to tone your abs its going to take ab work. Pilates is the best overall lean muscle building/flexibility way to go.

      Keep running, babes.

      seriously I was happy with just running. I concentrated on posture and breathing right when I ran, since that’s what tones your stomach and upper body too. just with running I got a defined stomach. My arms arent so muscular but theyre lean. But it depends on what works for you, what you like to do, mixing up your workout is always recommended. and remember, give yourself a day of rest, so your body can stabilize and be ready for the next workout. I agree pilates is great and imo it’s faster overall body results than running. I like "NYC ballet workout" also it’s very good and relaxing at the same time. The first level is a mix of pilates/ballet, the 2nd level is more advanced ballet.
