Hello all :). I have a few questions that I'm trying to squeeze all together, lol.
1) I looked up Suebee's Rat Diet today & tried my best to follow it as well as possible. This is what I've come up with. I'm missing pasta, puffed rice & a lab block/dog food.
- 3 1/3 cups Organic Mixed Fruits & Nuts
- 4 cups of Total
- 2 cups of Organic Puffed Wheat Cereal
- 2/3 cups unsalted sunflower seeds
- 2 3/4 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup of banana chips
What should I add or take away? And by how much?
2) This is my cage set up so far. All it's missing is my rats & some homemade toys & cuddly items.

3) Here's a picture of the whole litter, 2 of which are mine.

I'll be taking home the one white & brown one & one of the cream colored ones. What would be their technical coloring?
Thanks :)!
Ahh, sorry about the pictures. I'm so used to Photobucket automatically copying URL's.
Here is the cage:

Mind my backside, I just was incredibly happy that I could fit into the cage so easily.
For real this time -_-.

All the pictures show up the same. But a brown & white one is known as a hooded rat, if the rats body is white, but its head/shoulders are brown and its got brown spots running down the middle of its back. Not sure what the cream colored one would be called though.
As for the diet and cage, everything sounds/looks good to me. My past rats just got Forti-Diet rat blocks, dog treats, and human food, and they lived full lived.

You definitely need to get a lab block or quality dog food- that's where they get most their protein. (Very important for young/baby rats!)
Apart from that, the mix sounds good.
If you're getting baby rats, you're going to need to cover the bars- they'll slip right out! Those cages are nice, (and so much room!) but I've personally found they can get beat up pretty fast, unfortunately.
I can't see the pictures of the babies, but brown and white are probably agouti hoods (if their head is brown, and they have a strip or spot down their backs.) and cream and white is likely either beige hood or fawn hood. Fawn rats can end up brighter yellow and kind of orangey-tinted, while beige rats stay a lighter color, without the 'richness'.
Good luck with your babies!

If your rats are not fully grown they are going to escape through the bars of your cage. Nice cage though!
Its cheap and works well
We used chicken wire and wrapped our cage when we get new young rats
